Legendary investor Warren Buffett has issued a major warning about artificial intelligence, comparing the hot technology to nuclear weapons during a recent shareholder meeting, Axios. reports.
Buffett’s concerns center on the rapid proliferation of scams based on artificial intelligence. The American financier stated that this technology “scares him very much.”
According to the “Oracle of Omaha”, AI has developed to such an extent that it is almost impossible to decipher what is real and what is actually fake.
Buffett, one of the richest people, jokingly described the scam as “the growth industry” of all time.
At the same time, he has also acknowledged that his knowledge of AI is limited.
The billionaire himself has already been a victim of scammers. Buffett has recalled how someone used artificial intelligence technology to create a convincing deepfake video of him in order to give someone his money.
Of course, Buffett is far from the only businessman whose identity has been exploited by nefarious actors. As Guru-Investingreported, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has also repeatedly complained that AI scammers are using his identity to promote XRP scams.
Many prominent executives have also recognized the promise of AI technologies, with JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon recently comparing them to the steam engine.
In fact, AI is now also used to detect AI-powered deepfakes. Tech giant Microsoft recently introduced an authentication tool that is capable of analyzing photos and videos to determine whether they have been manipulated or not.
It’s worth noting that Buffett is also one of Bitcoin’s most vocal critics. Last year, the legendary investor called Bitcoin “a gambling chip.”
