- VeChain launched its sustainability campaign last November and in two months 2,400 users took 450,000 actions that saved three million kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2).
- The initiative has also saved over nine million liters of water, with CEO Sunny Lu recently marveling at the huge impact small collective efforts can have on the larger goal of sustainability.
Sustainability has become increasingly critical and requires a collective effort to achieve. VeChain has demonstrated how effective small collective actions can be towards achieving the main sustainability goal, with the network’s sustainability drive saving over three million kilograms of carbon dioxide in just two months.
Sustainability is the coexistence of man and nature in productive harmony, preserving the world for future generations. VeChain has been a leader in efforts to support sustainability, and in Turin, Italy, last year, during the Nitto ATP Finals tennis event, the network launched a sustainability campaign. The goal was to bring together individuals around the world and, through the X-to-Earn campaign, incentivize them to take more action towards the shared goal.
As Crypto News Flash reported at the time, VeChain challenged users to log into the United Nations AWorld platform and log all their sustainability actions for a chance to win tickets to the upcoming ATP Finals in Turin.
As CEO Sunny Lu recently revealed, this campaign was a stellar success and proved that blockchain is the best network for globally concerted efforts to save our planet.
VeChain’s Major Milestones in Sustainability Campaign
Lu was one of the speakers at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, an event that had over 100,000 attendees and over 2,700 exhibitors. In his presentation, Lu dived into the sustainability campaign, revealing key figures that prove it has been a huge success.
He told attendees:
In less than two months, 2,400 people participated [they]registered approximately 450,000 actions, resulting in savings of three million kg of CO2, equivalent to more than a thousand long-haul flights.
Listen to @sunshinelu24 from #MWC2024: we have collectively saved 3 million kg of CO2, the equivalent of avoiding a thousand long-haul flights! Furthermore, saving 9 million liters of water. 💦

The campaign also saved 9 million liters of water, equivalent to 14 Olympic swimming pools.
From the result, you can see that a small and fractional effort in everyone’s life is very impressive.
The results of VeChain’s campaign were tabulated after two months and the figures are higher at the time of writing. As Lu summarized, all it takes is a little effort from everyone. The campaign had registered only 2,400 users after two months; however, VeChain boasts over 2.88 million known addresses as of this writing, and as a result, registered users of the sustainability campaign equate to just 0.085%. Once more VeChainThor users sign up and start doing their part in the X-to-Earn campaign, the impact will be enormous.
Meanwhile, VET is trading at $0.491 at the time of writing, down 4% over the past day. On the monthly timeframe, the token is up 75% after a stellar rise in early February.
