Syscoin or SYS is the native cryptocurrency that powers the Syscoin network. The latter is an open source protocol that Ensures smooth and efficient creation of dApps thanks to its two-layer blockchain architecture.
SYS is based on the EIP-1559 standard. Syscoin Bridge allows for smooth transfer of Syscoin between both layers of the blockchain.

What are the main features of Syscoin?
As discussed in the “What is Syscoin” section, Syscoin is an open-source blockchain network based on double circuit architecture. This means that there are 2 blockchains – a NEVM-based blockchain and a Bitcoin-based blockchain. The latter is called Syscoin Core.
In addition to MasternodesZK-Rollups, Optimistic Rollups and Validium, some of its main features include:
- TAOSIS – Decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) with a treasury free from management;
- NEVM stands for Network-Enhanced Virtual Machine – the level of the Syscoin Ethereum virtual machine;
- Z-DAG – a protocol responsible for almost instantaneous transactions with tokens of the Syscoin or SPT platform;
- Notarial rules – a tool that allows SPT holders to set special parameters for SPT transactions. Moreover, it serves as a compliance solution that allows non-Syscoin tokens to be used on the public Syscoin blockchain.
Syscoin operates using the Bitcoin Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm and a pooled mining model based on Bitcoin.
Who developed Syscoin?
The Syscoin crypto project was launched in 2014 by the company Foundry Blockchain. In 2019, it began to be managed by the Syscoin Foundation, consisting of 5 members:
- Jag Sidhu – President of the Syscoin Foundation and lead developer of Syscoin;
- Michelle is Vice President of the Syscoin Foundation and Project Manager of the Syscoin Project;
- Willie Ko is the treasurer of the Syscoin Foundation and the developer of Syscoin;
- Chris is a Syscoin Foundation board member responsible for marketing and communications;
- Bradley is a Syscoin Foundation board member responsible for marketing and social media.
Since its inception in 2014, Syscoin has signed partnerships with Microsoft Azure, Binance, Komodo, TrustToken and many other projects.
