STEPN is one of Solana’s first initiatives that makes profitable movement a reality.. It is a Web3 based application that combines the concepts of GameFi and SocialFi into a lifestyle program. To take part, users need to download the STEPN application and purchase a virtual NFT shoes. These sneaker NFTs are varied, and their type determines how much reward the participant receives for performing physical activities such as walking, jogging, or running. The sneakers can be purchased through SOL tokens, native tokens of the Solana blockchain.
STEPN uses GPS tracking and motion sensor technology built into its app to track how far users move and convert those movements into rewards in in-app reward tokens – VAT. These tokens are then used in the STEPN ecosystem for various purposes such as shoe minting, sneaker upgrades, NFTs, collecting special gems, and acquiring GMT—STEPN’s governance token. STEPN Use Cases
The GMT token serves governance token with simulated utility functions in the STEPN network. Unlike GST, GMT is a deflationary token with a limited supply.
