Following the successful launch of the Ethereum Dencun Upgrade, a move that sparked excitement among community members when 15,000 ETH was moved, developers are already on to the next thing amidst talks about whether to include MaxEB in Electra.
The development team is currently evaluating additional features for inclusion in the update and is expected to make a final decision within the next one to four weeks.
Christine Kim, a researcher in the crypto space, in a series of posts on your page He highlighted the importance of parallel initiatives being carried out alongside the Electra upgrade. Two critical initiatives stood out.
PeerDAS and thin client development
The first is PeerDAS, which is an initiative that aims to improve the availability of Ethereum data, commonly known as a “blob”, securely. This is necessary as increasing data availability is crucial for network scalability and performance.
Secondly, light client development will focus on developing light client solutions that allow more users to access Ethereum independently, with minimal hardware requirements and less dependence on third-party services.
This overall goal of the developers’ initiative aims to improve accessibility and decentralization within the Ethereum network for users. Although MaxEB remains the primary focus for developers due to its immediate impact on the network, both PeerDAS and thin client development are considered high priority items.
However, given the complexity of the Electra upgrade, it may divert some bandwidth from these parallel efforts. Therefore, Kim encourages the Ethereum community to hold developers accountable for advancing these parallel initiatives alongside the Electra upgrade.
Coordinate efforts for long-term growth
Despite their importance, he admits that they may not initially receive the same level of attention as MaxEB, but emphasizes their importance to the long-term growth and development of the Ethereum network.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin will be present as a keynote speaker at the annual Ethereum developer conference and hackathon ETHTaipei 2024, currently ongoing and expected to end on March 24. At the conference, Buterin will participate on a panel alongside Layer 2 Networks leaders to evaluate progress in Ethereum scaling.
As developers strategize for the future, analysts are concerned about ETH’s recent drop and the likelihood of falling below the $1,850 mark. This sentiment is generating additional bearish momentum and painting a potentially bleak outlook for the asset’s near future.
