Billionaire, investor and Shark Tank co-host Mark Cuban responded to a tweet from Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus about his main activity on social media platform X.
Markus created the original meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, 11 years ago, in 2013. It turns out that Cuban is one of the top Dogecoin fans. He used to be the primary owner of the Mavericks basketball team, which accepted DOGE for tickets and merchandise. However, in November of last year, Cuban sold almost all of his stake in the team and now owns just 27% for more than $3 billion.
In January, during an AMA (“ask me anything”) session on X, Cuban claimed that the Mavericks still accept DOGE. The team accepts Dogecoin as payment since 2021, being the first sports team to accept cryptocurrencies.
Cuban offers a hand of solidarity to the founder of DOGE
A few years before that, Cuban was a vocal critic of cryptocurrencies, who claimed that buying bananas makes more sense than buying Bitcoin: at least one can eat the bananas. However, recently, he has not only been a big fan of DOGE but also Bitcoin, Ethereum, and several other major cryptocurrencies.
Cuban has responded to a recent “confession” from the founder of Dogecoin. Billy Markus shared his position on false posts and complaints on social media, making a confession of sorts on that point.
Mark Cuban supported Markus and both agreed that “positive trolling” “is never stupid.”
Markus comments on the “big announcement for DOGE”
As Guru-Investingreported, Markus was asked about the timing of when he plans to make a “big announcement for DOGE.” The Dogecoin co-founder responded by saying that he does not plan to make any such announcement.
He reminded user X that he had withdrawn from the Dogecoin project over 10 years ago; Both he and Jackson Palmer did so almost immediately after the meme coin toss.
Initially, DOGE was created as a parody of Bitcoin (based on the BTC code), as an alternative cryptocurrency based on the Kabosu dog meme and not at all as a serious competitor to Bitcoin.
Markus still has a small stash of DOGE and very little Bitcoin, as he tweeted earlier in the year.
