David Schwartz, chief technology officer (CTO) of American blockchain payments company Ripple Labs Inc., has scared the XRP community with his last post at X. Schwartz’s post says:
'I love the @Vibe 'So much equipment!', a statement whose meaning goes beyond what it currently seems.
In particular, the tech world was shaken over the weekend following the ouster of Sam Altman as CEO of OpenAI, the startup behind chatbot ChatGPT.
Altman's dismissal was likened to a corporate coup by OpenAI based on disagreements with OpenAI's board of directors. Amid the saga, there was speculation that Altman would be reinstated due to pressure from investors and company employees.
As speculation deepens, Sam Altman shared a post saying, “I love the OpenAI team so much,” underlining where Ripple's CTO copied the post from.
While Altman's statement came at a time when the OpenAI team was divided, Schwartz's post was published at a time when Ripple remained completely peaceful, for the first time since the Securities and Exchange Commission The United States (SEC) filed a lawsuit against the company and its executives, Brad Garlinghouse and Chris Larsen.
The court has since vindicated the company, declaring that XRP is not a security and dismissing charges against Ripple executives. This leaves Schwartz's post as one of the cases where his goal was simply to mock the XRP community.
Ripple CTO, integral part of Ripple's future
David Schwartz holds a specialized leadership role within the Ripple Labs and XRP ecosystem. In addition to being responsible for leading the team that designed many of the technology products that Ripple Labs boasts, he is credited with playing another crucial role in the company's future now that internal expansion tops the company's list.
Ripple's CTO is also a big voice in the broader Web3.0 ecosystem, a role that makes its X posts something to think about before making decisions.
