Jeo Boden {{BODEN}}, a joke crypto token named after a mispronunciation of US President Joe Biden’s name, surged 25% on Wednesday after his Republican challenger, former President Donald Trump , responded to a reporter’s question about it.
“I don’t like that investment,” Trump said at an impromptu news conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, after a reporter described BODEN to him and said it had a market capitalization of 240 million dollars.
After peaking at $0.42, BODEN has fluctuated and as of this writing was trading at $0.40, still up about 15% from when Trump made his comment (as well as ‘era).
The real estate mogul, reality TV star and populist brand was hosting the Trump Cards NFT Gala for owners of the digital collectibles that bear his name. A few hundred people were present.
Trump’s presidential campaign does not currently accept cryptocurrency donations, but he said during the press conference that he intends to do so.
To the question “can we donate using cryptocurrencies?” the all-but-certain GOP nominee responded, “If you can’t, I’ll make sure you can.”
