Veteran financial journalist Charles Gasparino recently engaged in a scathing exchange with proponents of XRP, the cryptocurrency associated with technology company Ripple.
Gasparino’s post, full of irony, playfully mocked XRP. The journalist imagined a world where conspiracy theories promoted by his controversial community are discussed in Davos.
BlackRock XRP ETF?
The XRP community was recently abuzz with speculation following BlackRock CEO Larry Fink’s ambiguous comment regarding a possible XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF).
However, Gasparino clarified that Fink may not know what XRP actually is, so the community should not read too much into his ambiguous answer. This dismissive comment upset many members of the community, prompting the sarcastic post mentioned above.
Fink, who once viewed Bitcoin with skepticism, now recognizes its potential, reflecting the financial sector’s changing stance toward digital currencies.
However, the financial giant does not appear to be prepared to embrace more arcane cryptocurrencies like XRP.
A long-simmering dispute
This is not the first time Gasparino has found himself at odds with the XRP community. A recent heated exchange on social media marks another chapter in the ongoing dispute between the journalist and XRP supporters.
Gasparino, known for his direct reports, has previously dismissed conspiracy theories proposed by some members of the XRP community.
These theories often involve allegations against former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton and his actions against Ripple.
Gasparino’s outright rejection of these theories as “idiotic” further fueled the contentious relationship between him and XRP proponents.
As Guru-Investingreported, the Fox Business reporter once described members of the controversial cryptocurrency community as a “cult.”
