A job seeker hoping to land a position at cryptocurrency firm Trade Terminal has accused the company’s CEO Yao Meng of mocking him for not being a billionaire during a nightmarish seven-minute interview.
Peiyuan Jin allegedly interviewed for a quantitative developer position at a California-based firm and had already gone through three stages of the hiring process.
However, as detailed in a post on his LinkedIn page, it soon became apparent that things were getting worse when Peiyuan says the CEO began interrupting him constantly.
“As I began to introduce myself, he interrupted me to mock my experience as a software engineer at John Deere, expressing disbelief that a tractor company would even need software services,” Peiyuan wrote on LinkedIn.
He claims Yao then “belittled me for not ‘thinking big’ about the company and bragged that as an intern he once convinced his manager to leave and join him in a cryptocurrency project.”
Peiyuan added that the CEO ended the nightmarish seven-minute ordeal by saying: “I’m a billionaire because I think big, but look at you – you’ve achieved nothing.”
Peiyuan described the ordeal as “the worst interview experience” and said: “No candidate should have to endure such treatment, regardless of their background or the companies they worked for.”

Is the CEO of a crypto company a billionaire or a control freak?
Despite his loud claims of his seemingly astronomical wealth, not everyone was quick to believe Yao’s boasts that he is a billionaire.
He added: “I hope that by sharing this, others will feel empowered to speak out about their experiences and that companies will take responsibility for ensuring their interview processes are fair, respectful and professional.”
According to user X MostlyMonkey, “As far as I can tell, Yao Meng is in the trading terminal not even close to a billionaireThey have <50 employees and he has <500 LinkedIn followers.
“Not to mention, I’ve never met a single billionaire who ever called himself a billionaire.”
Elsewhere, Reddit users called Yao “delusional” and a “control freak,” while another bluntly stated, “Cryptobro doesn’t know shit about fucking.”
Others dug into the numbers, with one saying: “His company said six years ago that they were managing 10,000 bitcoins (worth $600 million today). He’s definitely trying to use their AUM as his money.”
Finally, one user suggested that perhaps he was “has one billion SHIB.”
