Recently, a debate on social networks has been turned on surrounding Charles Hoskinson, the founder of the Cardano blockchain, and accusations of abandoning projects and promises.
In response to a series of accusations from X user Fabian (@Fabian_vBergen), Hoskinson began defending Cardano’s progress and governance.
Hoskinson fights back
Reacting to the criticism, Hoskinson responded to Fabian’s claims with facts. He stated that the Ethiopia project is still in active development, despite the challenges posed by a war and multiple changes in educational administration.
Additionally, he clarified IELE’s status as a research project and addressed why it was not carried out as a “layer one integration.” Hoskinson also highlighted that projects such as SingularityNet had worked on and used the ERC20 converter. However, its use was largely obsolete in favor of other initiatives such as Milkomeda.
Additionally, Hoskinson vehemently denied IOG’s full control over Cardano, explaining that IOG, Emurgo, and the Cardano Foundation (CF) are all genesis key holders. He pointed to the CIP 1694 proposal, which he says makes IOG control irrelevant. Lastly, Hoskinson appeared to question the motivation behind Fabian’s accusations.
The reaction of the community.
The community had mixed reactions to this public exchange. Some users suggested that Hoskinson should block or silence critics, expressing that constant clarifications can be mentally exhausting and that engaging detractors could amplify and fuel negative sentiment. However, there seems to be a general consensus that the dialogue must remain open.
Some users criticized Hoskinson’s tone, arguing that insults might not be the most effective way to address concerns.
