The price of bitcoin (BTC) fell below the $65,000 mark on Tuesday, hitting a low of $64,050 on Bitstamp. As of 10:10 a.m. Eastern Time, BTC was trading at around $64,624 per coin. The last time BTC was in this price range was mid-May. Over the past 24 hours, $68.3 million in long bitcoin positions have been liquidated out of $380 million wiped out in total across the entire cryptocurrency economy. It hasn’t been the best week for BTC as it has lost 3% over the past seven days, down 6.5% against the US dollar in two weeks. With BTC’s current value below the $65,000 zone, the leading cryptocurrency is down 12.2% from its all-time high of $73,794 per coin reached on March 14.
