Binance website URL is now available in India. The URLs of 9 offshore crypto exchanges including Binance, OKX, Kucoin were blocked by the Indian government on January 12, 2024. These platforms were issued a show cause notice by the finance ministry in December 2023 for failing to comply with Indian anti-money laundering laws. Kucoin became the first offshore crypto exchange to register with the FIU and after paying a fine of Rs 34.5 lakh, its URL was unblocked in March.
Binance applied for registration with the FIU in April and was fined ₹18.82 crore, while OKX decided to shut down its services in India.
Although the Binance URL is now available, the app is not yet available on the Play Store and App Store.
There are no updates or announcements from the official Binance on social media or blog yet, however, people can access the website. This could be a sign that the Binance URL has been completely unblocked.
