In a playful yet bold prediction, XRP community commentator “XRPee” recently offered a compelling perspective on the potential future value of XRP.
The commentator described a scenario in which dormant XRP wallets could unlock tens of millions of dollars in assets.
Specifically, he foresaw a point in ten years when the popular tracking platform Whale Alert would be able to draw attention to 100 XRP tokens reactivated from a dormant wallet, by which time those tokens would be worth $13,000,003.
This speculation takes inspiration from recent events in the Bitcoin community, where dormant BTC tokens are returning to circulation after decades of dormancy. Tokens that were often worth very little at the time of the last transaction are now worth millions based on today’s prices.
For example, just two weeks ago, a dormant wallet containing 50 BTC (now worth $3.7 million) first moved on October 25, 2024, after 14.3 years of dormancy. Interestingly, at the time of last activity in 2010, 50 BTC was worth only $2.
This means that the investor purchased the assets at a price of about $0.04 per token, and over 14 years, the value of a Bitcoin unit rose to $75,000. This resulted in an astounding return on investment (ROI) of over 187,499,900%.
What if something similar happens to XRP?
Notably, XRP is relatively cheap today, trading at around $0.53. Essentially, XRPee suggests that something equally remarkable could happen in the XRP ecosystem in the next decade. In this scenario, 100 XRP tokens worth just $53 today could be unlocked in 2034 worth $13 million.
This would represent an astounding $130,000 per unit value of the XRP token in ten years. The projected ROI on today’s XRP price is an incredible 24,528,201%.
Notably, XRPee’s message was both speculative and humorous, but it reflected continued optimism within the XRP community about the cryptocurrency’s long-term potential. The forecasts reflect the hopes of many investors for XRP, despite the asset’s poor performance in recent years.
XRP has traded under $1 for the past three years and last hit an all-time high about seven years ago. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has surpassed the previous cycle’s peaks twice, with a new peak now at $75K. In contrast, XRP remains at $0.53, the same as last year.
However, XRP supporters continue to hope that XRP could one day be worth $100, $1,000, or even $10,000.
